Blacketyside Farm, Leven, August 2007 - Shell Completed

March 2008
Farmers can supplement their incomes by selling produce from farm gates, at farmers' markets and by “pick your own” sessions. Growing awareness of the importance of healthy eating in our lives creates increased demand for fresh and organic products. Today many farmers choose to add value to their produce instead of selling to supermarkets at wholesale prices that are disproportionate to what shoppers at the other end of the retail chain are paying.
Organically grown produce sold from a log farm shop embodies the principle of embracing a more natural way of farming and living and presents an attractive alternative to shopping at urban stores.
